Our family often lends us the strength to get through hard times, but many new refugees entering the country have had to leave their loved ones behind. The State Department shut down the Family Reunification Program four years ago in response to fraudulent applications leaving few pathways for refugees to reunite with their family members.
On October 15th the Family Reunification Program reopened, but the revised process is complicated. Since then, MCC has helped over 60 clients apply for reunification with their parents, spouses, and unmarried children under the age of 21. We provide skilled support to assist people in getting their family members into the country to begin to build a new life together.
MCC hosts information sessions each Monday and Friday at 9:00 (122 Franklin Ave W, Minneapolis) so that refugees and asylees can learn more about who is eligible and how to apply.
